I enrolled in the pro culinary program a few years and it was an amazing experience! Culinary Lab gave me the skillset I needed and trained me to be ready for the professional kitchens. Currently I am enrolled in the new Entrepreneurship program and its been incredibly helpful with developing my business idea. This school isn’t your typical culinary school. Culinary Lab provides student resources during school and post graduation to ensure they succeed in the modern culinary industry.

Culinary Lab not only prepares you for cooking/ pastry, it can also prepare you to work IN the industry with its Apprenticeship Program or prepare you to run your own buisness with its Entrepreneurship Program! I have learned so much valuable information from both programs, but the Entreprenurship Program has made me feel like my dream to own/run a reataurant is more acheivable. Currently the program is one day every other week, for five hours. There is no “fluff”, just valuable information, making my trips from San Diego well worth it. Having gone through its Culinary, Apprenticeship, and Entrepreneurship programs, I can confidently say that this school is built to make sure you succeed! And with 0% financing, why would you choose another school?

Culinary Lab is a phenomenal institution to learn/ hone/excel in all areas of a person’s culinary life. They hands down care about you and are willing to take you to the next level. The entrepreneur program is one of THE BEST I personally have ever encountered! It’s so on depth it makes you tap into the entrepreneur mindset and that alone is priceless. Cef Ryan is a great teacher and leader and this program is a solid foundation for anyone interested in this path. The first class alone will have you blown away and it just gets more and more magical from there. If you’re thinking about enrollment, don’t think. Do! It’ll be the best decision you’ll make in your life.

CulinaryLab vs. General Entrepreneurship Programs

img culinarylab program table pttgx5ljtcp5r0nv2vg4krtcgmblas5i7swizjjhfy
img general program table

After 20+ years in this industry both as a professional chef and a food entrepreneur, I know first-hand how much goes into play when it comes to starting a food related business. It’s a venture that can easily get quite scary and quite fast. In the end, this lack of experience, not having a clarity of vision, no resources or industry connections, are among the reasons why most food businesses fail at the start.

So, my goal with the Entrepreneurship program is to continue from where we left off with the Pro-courses in CulinaryLab. Our students have been consistently getting hired by big-name players in the food industry, but many of them have the ambition to start and run their own business. That’s why we’ve developed a complete hands-on & food specific entrepreneurship curriculum that will enable everyone who has any experience in the food industry, to launch their own business in the shortest amount of time possible. This program focuses on solving real-life problems and it’s been created by successful food entrepreneurs for those who want to learn through work and their sole aim is ownership, instead of studying general entrepreneurship theory.

Also, one thing that we’re especially proud of when it comes to this program is the support that it offers. The Incubator program that is part of it, and the Panel of Innovators & Tastemakers provide a real entrance in the food business without any risk and guesswork. In the end, if I had to summarise this program in one sentence, it is simply a fast-track to get your business launched.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements for me to enroll in this program?

Monday - Sunday upon availibility

How much practical knowledge would I get from this program?

At $25,000 for the entire program, CulinaryLab is a fraction of what’s required for enrollment at traditional culinary schools. We keep fees as low as possible because we don’t believe it’s fair to stick students with high debt after graduation. This is also one reason why we place you in an apprenticeship. You’re able to make money that you can put toward your education or to cover your costs while learning.

What kind of equipment do I need?

While we don’t accept FAFSA, we work with two student loan companies to offer payment plans. Keep in mind, during your 1,000-hour apprenticeship, you can make a minimum of $13,000 before graduation.

I’m pretty busy. Can I fit this program in my schedule?

We offer morning (7:00 am to 2:30 pm) and evening (3:00 pm to 10:30 pm) class options two days a week (Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday) throughout the year. Our program is two days per week to accomdate students with outside jobs and/or family responsibilities.

Would I be able to commit to the work required?

You graduate from CulinaryLab with the knowledge and connections needed to excel in a variety of culinary careers. A 1,000-hour paid apprenticeship program is part of the program. Many of our students stay at that job after graduation.
